History Lab: Making Maps of Mexico
Final projects from Johns Hopkins University undergraduates in Spring 2021, Fall 2022, and Spring 2024
Students in this course worked with Prof. Lurtz to clean and map data from a 1900 Mexican agricultural statistics and the Mexican censuses from 1895 and 1900. Spring 2024
Students created an Omeka website to explain the project and showcase the GIS projects they completed using 19th century data and shapefiles of Mexico’s political geography in 1900.
