Mapping Mexico in 1900

Contemporary GIS layers cannot represent Mexico’s political geography in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. With the help of students at Johns Hopkins and CIDE-Aguascalientes, as well as the Data Services team at Johns Hopkins, I have created a series of shapefiles and map layers to better represent the political geography of the country at the turn of the century. You can read more about the project and how to use it at our website; download the shapefiles, data biography, and .csv files behind the maps at the Johns Hopkins Research Data Repository; or start using our map layers on ArcGIS Online.
